Dealership Warranty vs. Online Warranty
Dealership extended manufacturer warranty plans are often backed by the SAME companies that online providers use. In the case of Atlas Warranty, our online plans are the same plans sold in our dealership along with being sold in many other dealerships. We are partner companies with the administrator who backs all policies sold at our dealership and online. This means to you that you will be getting the most comprehensive taylored cost efficient policy to meat your needs.
It is important with any extended protection plan to read the contract and understand all sections within.
It is extremely important for you to understand all the small print in the contract. A few of the most important sections within a vehicle service contract are:
What do you need to do in order to keep your contract intact from a maintenance standpoint?
Usually, you must maintain your vehicle per manufacturer specifications. This includes scheduled maintenance, oil changes, etc.
What paperwork should you retain, such as maintenance work, smog checks, oil changes?
Better safe than sorry. Keep proof of all maintenance work. This is not only a good idea for your vehicle protection plan, but will also be useful should you decide to sell your car.
Breakdown of Covered Parts
What is Not Covered
Transfer of Agreement
It is important that you make sure your extended coverage is transferable. You also need to check what the requirements are for transferring the coverage, if a fee is required and any other requirements such as having the new owner confirm the transfer.
Cancellation of Agreement
Check on the cancellation requirements and terms. Most vehicle service contract companies allow you to cancel your contract at any time. The one exception is if a claim is pending or has been paid.
